Combating Land Desertification training and learning materials. Topics covered include: (i) Land degradation and desertification principles and concepts; (ii) Land Degradation Neutrality (LDN) principles and concepts and their application; (iii) Community based best practices and technologies to avoid, halt or reduce land degradation; (iii) Innovative technologies and practices to reduce sand movement and encroachment; (iv) Approaches and methods  for monitoring and modelling sand movement and encroachment; and (v) Sustainable land management frameworks and stakeholders engagement.

This Training workshop is designed to introduce the role of NGOs and civil societies in engaging community to reduce degradation. Studies show that human activities are the key drivers of land degradation and desertification, although harsh climate exacerbates the impacts of human beings. Efforts have been made to develop technologies, approaches, and practices to reduce land degradation, maintain productivity, and mitigate the negative impacts of human activities on the land. One of the approaches developed involves activating and enabling local communities to enhance land restoration and reduce degradation. This training workshop build the capacity of NGO and Civil Society to activate local commuiities to combat land degradation and deserrtification.
